One of the two major components of reading instruction is reading comprehension–the ability to understand what is read. It is not enough to just be able to sound out the words. Good readers need to also be able to understand what they read, talk intelligently about the text, answer questions about it, and write a response to the text. With our instruction, readers will practice and learn strategies that will strengthen these skills.
